Nice Weather is here to stay!

It looks like the nice weather is here to stay!  With the nice little rain we had last night and Mark getting the irrigation system up and running the course is really taking shape.  You will see some of the course improvements for 2016 are already underway.  (pictures below)  Golfer or not we have the best views in Southwest Minnesota!

The Ladies League kickoff dinner is TONIGHT Tuesday April 19th.  Happy hour starts at 5:30, and the dinner will be at 6:30 with a short meeting.

Men’s League is set to start on Wednesday May 4th.  We will have a short league meeting on Wednesday April 27th at 8:00 PM.  I welcome all league players to attend.

Our annual course cleanup day is Saturday April 23rd starting at 8:00 AM.  There will be coffee, rolls, pizza and beverages for all who attend.  Course improvements we have planned for 2016 are going to be getting underway soon.  If you would like to volunteer any of your time to helping out please contact Mark at [email protected].

I still have chances for you to win Ryder Cup tickets!  Stop in the clubhouse for details.  All proceeds benefit the Redwood Falls Junior Golf Association.

The open invitations for the Redwood Falls Golf Club Classic – Palmer Kise Tournament have been sent out via email. If you know of someone who is interested in playing, please have them contact the clubhouse or forward them this newsletter and have them sign up to receive notifications on this and all other tournaments we have coming up this season. Our newly designed website will have a calendar of events that anyone can view.

If you would like Redwood Falls Golf Club to host your event please feel free to contact the clubhouse for open dates and times.  I would love to work with you to make your event a success.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week and as always I look forward to seeing you all soon!

COURSE IMPROVEMENTS 2016

13green2

Remember all the scrub brush behind 13 green?  It has been trimmed back.  By doing this it not only increases the beauty of the hole visually it will also increase air flow through the valley during the hot summer days.  With the Redwood River flowing behind this green it truly is a one of a kind golf hole. One you would be hard pressed to find anywhere else in the state!

13tee

The view from 13 tee box.  You can now see the natural, high river bank that provides a visually stunning backdrop to the 13 green.  You will also notice that the grove of trees to the right have been trimmed back.  This will provide more access from the forward tee box to the entire green.

1bunker2

The front left bunker on hole 1 has been filled in.  Mark and his crew are prepping the ground now for sod.

11bunker2

The back bunker on hole 11 has been filled in and will be replaced with a “grass type bunker”.  You will notice that there is still going to be a bit of a depression behind this green. The grass will be a bit longer in this area to keep the challenge of hitting it long on this hole.

In an effort to grow the game of golf for the future of our club we will be forming a junior golf association.  The goal is to provide junior golf memberships, lessons, tournaments and reserved tee times for youth to come and enjoy the game of golf.  If you would like to be involved in the junior golf association as a volunteer or would like to make donations please contact me.

New for 2016

Greg Snow (manager of Olivia Golf Club) and I have agreed upon a reciprocity deal with Olivia Golf Club.  It will be $25 plus tax for 18 holes and a cart.  In addition to Olivia, Eagle Creek in Willmar has agreed to another year of reciprocity for members of our club.  The rate is the same, $25 plus tax for 18 holes and a cart.  If you would like to play either Olivia or Eagle Creek contact me and I will set up your tee times.

Golf Course Improvements

We have members who have stepped forward to match donated funds for golf course improvements.  These members have asked that a minimum of $10,000 be raised by members of the club, but will match up to $15,000.  I have commitments from members already for $16,981.  These funds will be used to improve specific items on the golf course.  If you would like more information on donating please contact me.
